Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 17 October 2026
These terms govern your booking and use of courses and materials provided by Horizon Medical Academy Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking or purchasing a course you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. Definitions
In these terms: “we”, “us” and “our” mean Horizon Medical Academy Ltd; “you” means the person booking or purchasing a course; “course” means any in person or online course, session, or video content we provide; “materials” means any content we provide in connection with a course, whether printed, digital, or presented in person; and a “working day” means Monday to Friday excluding public holidays in England and Wales.
2. About us
We are an independent educational provider offering preparatory courses for the PLAB 2 examination.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to the General Medical Council (GMC) or any medical regulator in any way.
Our courses are intended to support your preparation only. Participation does not guarantee success in the PLAB 2 examination or in any medical registration, licensing, or employment process.
3. Bookings and payment
All prices are in GBP. We are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is charged on our prices.
A booking is confirmed only once full payment has been received and cleared through our online payment provider, Stripe. Until payment is successfully completed, your place is not reserved.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details. By paying you also agree to Stripe’s terms where applicable.
4. Price changes
We may change our prices from time to time. Any change applies only to bookings made after it takes effect. The price that applies to your booking is the price shown at the time you completed payment, and it will not increase after that.
5. In person courses, cancellations, transfers and refunds
All cancellation and transfer requests must be made in writing to info@horizon-academy.co.uk. Timing is measured against the course start date.
More than 10 working days before the course: you may request a transfer to an alternative date, or you may be eligible for a partial refund. Transfers and partial refunds are granted at our reasonable discretion. Transfer requests can only be made within this window.
10 working days or fewer before the course: bookings are non refundable and cannot be transferred, except where required by law or where we cancel or materially change the course (see the section on changes and cancellation by us).
Non attendance or no show: failure to attend results in no refund and no rescheduling.
After the course has taken place: fees are non refundable. Attending a course and later deciding you were not satisfied does not entitle you to a refund. This does not affect your statutory rights where a course was not provided with reasonable care and skill (Consumer Rights Act 2015), in which case you may be entitled to a remedy.
This section does not affect your statutory right to cancel described in the section on your right to cancel, which takes precedence where it applies.
6. Online video courses
Our online video courses are provided on a monthly subscription. Payment is taken through Stripe and the subscription automatically renews each month until you cancel. Each payment gives you access for that billing month.
Access is granted immediately on payment. By subscribing you expressly request immediate access and acknowledge that you lose your statutory 14 day right to cancel for the current month once access has been granted. The current month cannot be cancelled and is non refundable once it has started, including any unused part of it.
You can cancel at any time to stop future months. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid month. You will not be charged again and you keep access until that month ends. We do not provide partial or pro rata refunds for the current month.
7. Online access and platforms
To use our online video courses you need a compatible device and a reliable internet connection. Access is provided through third party platforms, including Stripe for payment and our video hosting provider.
We are not responsible for faults, outages, or interruptions caused by those third party services or by your own equipment or connection. Your access to online content continues only while your subscription is active and paid.
8. Your right to cancel
If you are a consumer, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you generally have 14 days from the date of booking to cancel a distance purchase and receive a refund.
For in person courses, if you ask us to begin providing the service during this 14 day period, you may be charged for what has been provided up to the point you cancel.
For online courses, this right ends once you have consented to immediate access and that access has been granted, as set out in the online video courses section.
To exercise this right, contact us at info@horizon-academy.co.uk.
9. Intellectual property and use of materials
All course content and materials, whether printed, digital, or presented in person, are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.
You are granted a personal, non transferable, non exclusive licence to use the materials for your own study only. You must not copy, download (except where we expressly permit), record, screenshot, reproduce, distribute, resell, publish, or share the materials in any form, in whole or in part.
Breach of this section may result in removal from the course without refund and may constitute copyright infringement.
10. Your responsibilities
When booking and attending you agree to:
provide accurate and complete information and keep it up to date; arrive on time and bring any identification or items we tell you are required; and arrange and pay for your own travel, accommodation, and any other personal costs. We are not responsible for those costs if a course is changed or cancelled, except as set out in the section on changes and cancellation by us.
11. Attendee conduct, health and safety
You must be 18 or over to book. Any online account is for your personal use only: it is tied to one person, must not be shared, and you are responsible for keeping your login details secure. You must not attempt to access, copy, scrape, disrupt, or interfere with our platform or its security.
Our in person courses include practical, hands on stations. You agree to follow all instructions and health and safety guidance given by our staff, and to tell us in advance of any medical condition or requirement that may affect your safe participation.
You take part in practical activities at your own risk and should not perform any activity you feel unable to do safely. If in doubt, speak to a member of staff before taking part.
We may refuse entry to, or remove from the venue, any attendee who poses a health or safety hazard, behaves in a disruptive, abusive, or threatening way towards staff or others, causes or risks causing damage, or is otherwise in breach of these terms. In any such case no refund will be given and no transfer or rescheduling will be offered.
You are responsible for any loss or damage you cause to the venue, equipment, or property of others, and we may recover the cost of that damage from you.
12. Accessibility and special requirements
We want our courses to be accessible. If you have a disability, medical condition, or other requirement and need a reasonable adjustment, please contact us at info@horizon-academy.co.uk before booking or as early as possible, and we will do what we reasonably can to help.
13. Photography and recording
We may take photographs or make audio or video recordings at our in person courses for training, quality, and marketing purposes. If you do not want to appear in material used for marketing, please tell a member of staff or email us at info@horizon-academy.co.uk and we will take reasonable steps to exclude you.
You must not make your own recordings at a course without our prior written permission.
14. Changes, cancellation by us and events beyond our control
We may occasionally need to change the date, time, location, format, or content of a course. If we cancel a course or make a significant change you do not accept, you may choose a transfer to an alternative date or a full refund of the amount paid for that course.
We are not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control (for example, extreme weather, illness of key staff, venue failure, strikes, or government restrictions). Where such an event occurs we will offer a transfer or, where that is not possible, a refund.
15. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Subject to that, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with a course is limited to the total amount you paid for that course. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including exam outcomes, loss of earnings, or travel and accommodation costs.
16. Privacy and data protection
We handle your personal data in accordance with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). Details of how we collect and use your data are set out in our Privacy Policy.
17. Complaints
If something goes wrong, please contact us at info@horizon-academy.co.uk. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and to resolve them as quickly as we reasonably can.
We do not currently subscribe to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme. If we are unable to resolve your complaint directly, you are free to seek independent advice or pursue your statutory rights through the courts. Nothing here affects those rights.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your booking is the one in force at the time you booked. The current version is always available on this page.
19. No waiver, assignment and third party rights
If we do not enforce a term, or delay enforcing it, that is not a waiver of our rights.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation; you may not transfer yours without our written consent. These terms are between you and us, and no other person has any right to enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
20. Severability and entire agreement
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in full force. These terms set out the entire agreement between you and us in relation to your booking.
21. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
